The Ayurveda diet originates in India and has already been used for approximately 3,500 years. According to Ayurvedic theory, the human body is divided into different units. Three vital energies that act within the body:

  1. Vata,
  2. Pitta and
  3. Kapha.

These energies determine one’s health and are responsible for whether a person is overweight or not. According to the Indian Ayurvedic diet, the earth-dosha-kapha is overly active in obese people.

If the metabolism is unable to cope with the current food supply, it is referred to as “metabolic waste” or “Ama“. But Ama can be degraded. Fasting, proper purifying treatments and full-body massages are especially good for this. The Ayurvedic diet is intended as a long-term diet, in which meals mainly consist of salads, milk, vegetables, ghee and oil.

Of course, one must also consume other products, such as eggs, meat and fish, but only in moderation. It is important to drink plenty of fluids. Water or herbal tea are most recommended.

The aim of the Ayurveda diet lies in only eating food which the body can digest quickly and easily. Foods that are difficult to digest should be avoided. It is important to make sure that every meal stimulates a balance between mind, body and soul.

The Ayurveda diet offers an overall healthy eating plan. The inventors of the Ayurveda diet believe that a good metabolism is essential for proper health. The use of hot spices stimulates one’s metabolism in a natural way. Also, one should refrain from eating to late in the day (as is the case with the dinner canceling diet).

The Ayurvedic diet is excellent for long term use, because you don’t have to give up anything. Cooking with exotic spices helps you refine familiar recipes and experience them in new way. The Ayurvedic diet is safe, as there are no health-related issues and the diet is balanced.

It is also a great way to get to know yourself and your body and develop a whole new relationship with food.

Ayurveda Diet Disadvantages

If you’re not a fan of exotic spice, you’re out of luck. Eating pure clarified butter for breakfast can also take some getting used to. Unfortunately, this diet doesn’t result in great weight-loss success and the progress one makes with this diet is very small and hardly noticeable.

Many scientists only recommend performing this diet in conjunction with sports. In addition, scientists and physicians refute certain statements made in conjunction with this diet.

Fast weight-loss cannot be achieved with the Ayurveda diet.

Conclusion – Our Opinion on the Ayurveda Diet

This is probably not the best diet if you want to lose weight quickly. The Ayurveda diet is only suitable for people who were already planning on changing their diet. It is definitely not recommended as a satisfactory diet.
